What Tan Lines???

24 Comments on What Tan Lines???

Hey….. πŸ™‚

I hope everyone is doing good today!

Lately I’ve gotten back into my weekly tan regime with Summer well and truly here. Well the Summer months that is, the sunshine is trying its hardest to stick around here in London.

What Tan Lines?

If you know me or have been reading some of my previous blogs, you’ll know I have typical Irish skin. I burn, I go red, RAW red, I peel like a friggin orange and when the journey is finally overΒ all I have for my sins is pale skin and an extra freckle….. Β Amazing really!

So, instead of all this hardship I have since learned that the shade is my friend and that any colour I want can be found in a bottle. Tan bottle that is…..

I like to do Tan Thursday……Β #tanthursday

I’m not prefect though and Tan Tuesday’s have been known to happen in our house…. Don’t judge…. You get naked in the freezing cold tiled bathroom and apply colder mouse…..

So here’s how I do it! (I am in no way a professional. I mean my life motto is fake it till ya make it….. Buyer beware and all that πŸ˜‰)

The night before I plan to tan I shave and scrub a layer of skin of with one of the below. Either of these can be used to get tan off to so 2 for 1!

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff

My usual go to scrub. Irish brand to which is always nice for me! Plus Β£5.99 for quite a decent size of it – 200ml

RecentlyΒ I got Beaubronze Β as part of a goody bag for a show I was at. Tried it out and was pleasantly surprised. Did the job just as good and felt like I didn’t have to rub my skin raw doing it! Bit more pricey at Β£15.99……. Not sure it was worth handing over that much more for it. Will be sticking with my Pink Bottle!

Tough Stuff

After my shower I then moisturize. This is normal for me so not so much an extra job or anything. I go between the below from Soap and Glory. Whichever one is on sale when I need it. They always are on offer in Boots. Whichever product works for you….

Body Milk

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter

For normal days and normally around Β£10

Soap & Glory Smoothie Starβ„’ Body Lotion

For when I feel really dry and want an extra boost. Normally around Β£10.

So, onto the good stuff…….. I have tried nearly every tan out there. The cheap, the mid range, the high-end…. And these two beauty’s are my go to.

For Me, a tan has to be:

  • Reasonably Priced – I go through a good few of them over the summer months.
  • Long lasting – Thursday only come around once a week!
  • Easy to apply – I would rather be in bed than fluffing in the bathroom so if its more than 10 minutes for the whole application, ye good luck…..
  • Fades Naturally…….. I know, I don’t ask for much!
St.Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan Body Light/Medium – Β£14.50

Not to dark and very subtle. Also lack of any tan smell which is handy! Goes on darkish so you can see where you have rubbed and where else to do!

Cocoa Brown
Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Dark Mousse – Β£7.99

Easy to use, quick to apply and rubs on well with a tan mitt. Lasts me the full week and you don’t notice it coming off…. Simply fades away.

And there you have it, what I’ll be doing every week until September-ish….

Does anyone else tan and if so what do you use?

Also, on a side note, our luggage tags FINALLY arrived, they took forever but defiantly worth the wait…..

Case Tag

Lots of Love…..

  1. Who cares about tan lines! Atleast your saving your skin from ageing. I have skin that absorbs the sun and can tan all day long, I’m grateful but I’d rather protect myself and keep to the shade! Xxx

    1. YES!!!!!!! This is what I’m going to use as my excuse now! Sounds mega good πŸ™‚ Sun protection is a must. I do use factor 50 its just safer. Burning is not a option for me. It makes me sos grumpy and I’m not me when I’m grumpy πŸ˜‚ xxx

  2. I love those luggage tags! I tend to tan naturally, especially on my travels where I’m outside a lot. Rory and I were both outside for the same amount of time and we both loaded on the sunscreen..but I went a few shades darker, while Rory looked the same. Funny that πŸ˜€

    1. Im not jealous about your tanning ability…. Really not…. At all like πŸ˜‚ Oh well…. I can’t have it all!! I used to get so mad at himself all boozed and what not. Now I’m just like whatevs…. Food for thought though on how being in the same sun as someone and tanning differently to them! Hows the weather now with you guys? Its trying to be sunny here but failing miserably! xx

        1. Oh ye, your heading into that now!! Are winters harsh where you are? We’ve had a long one here! DYING for some heat! And with the small change in weather I’ve started wearing lighter clothes hoping to hurry it up…. nope, just got myself some sniffles! Keep warm, nothing worse! Do you catch loads colds etc being with kiddies at work?? xx

          1. They can sometimes get pretty harsh. No snow but endless rain and gales. Gets really annoying when i have to walk to work πŸ˜₯
I do catch the occasional bug from work, but I’ve built up an immunity since I’ve been here for a few years now

            1. You would well have to build up I’m sure! Hopefully this year it won’t be so tough on you guys!! Fair play for walking in bad weather, i’d have to dig deep to head out in it and I’m from rain and bad weather πŸ˜‚ xx

  3. I can totally relate to this entire blog post I burn really easily as well and I’m as pale as a ghost!! I’ll definitely have to look into some of the tan products you put in the post 😊😊

    1. Do!!! Being pale and getting a tan has me like…. They see me rolling…. Head bounce included! Im like BOOM….. Its the small things in life isn’t it… πŸ™‚ Let me know if you do try any xxx

  4. I’m getting back to tanning life, because summer is almost here and I look pale and just not nice. I just ordered new fake tanner, excited to try it. I need to check some of these also, because I’m always on look for god tanning products. Lovely post dear. xx

    1. Ouuuuuu what did you order??? Please post about them! Esp since they’ll be all shine and new πŸ˜€ Let me know how you get on, or any tips you have! Love getting ideas of others! Thanks for stopping by pretty lady!! xx

  5. I never used a fake tanner. I get tanned pretty fast during the summer so it’s ok, but my skin gets so fair in Winter !! I’ll probably use one next winter 😁

    1. Thanks Emma, rub it in for me and my milk bottle legs πŸ˜‚ In the winter i look like a eskimo so never really bother but when i put tan on it does perk me up and make me feel more confident so maybe it is something to think about for the winter months!!! Thanks for stopping by my love xxx

  6. I tan super easily and I used to boast that my skin never burned. As a child, there were times abroad where I would wear a spf 8 or something silly, waltz out in the sun all day and just be bronzed.
When in miami however, I noticed for the first time, despite applying a good sun cream, I had an area of redness. I realised then, after seeing my skin peel, how damaging it was to abuse your skin in the sun. Gosh, I actually used to put oil on before sitting outside to sunbathe!
Anyway, this is truly the best method. Apparently it was Coco Chanel who made the tan popular. Tanned or not, your Irish skin is beautiful!!! Xxx

    1. Snap! One year I got such a bad burn it put me right off! Apart from the pain, the damage it can do! Factor 30 or 50 for me all the way! I love P20 to, a little steep on ££ but every time its worked a treat for me!

Coco Chanel who made the tan popular!?!!? Say what now!!! Well looking this up πŸ™‚

      1. Yes apparently Coco was in the South of France, and just leisurely enjoyed the sun. At the time, it was unheard of to want to actually sunbathe or even try and be tanned. I think that’s right! xx

  7. I tan easily but still don’t want skin cancer later, so I do my best to not go overboard in the sun. however, I do like to get my vitamin D. as for self tanners, I tried one summer, but was gagging on the smell & how it would collect on my elbows, knees, & ankles …

    1. hahahahahahah Been there… Done that!!! Yep…. I can honestly say though they have come a long way since I first started using them all those years ago!! I remember a badly applied tan story with wet wipes…. Ye don’t go for wet wipe tans… trust me πŸ™‚ xx

        1. #Preach!!! But in saying that I’d hate being a boy and not getting to do all the cool things we can do πŸ™‚ xxx

Let me hear your thoughts!!
