Letting Him Pick the Honeymoon and why Not knowing the destination was Best for us!

Hey…. πŸ™‚

So, as many of you know I am currently on my honeymoon! And for those of you who follow me on social media you will have already seen where I am πŸ™‚

What you might not know is the background to this. Last December we got married. My annual leave runs from April to March, the UK tax year. Himself, his runs from January to December. With all our trips home before the wedding we had to put offΒ our honeymoon if we wanted more than a week.

We had also been told by those who had gone before us, having something to look forward to months later was bliss! It prolongs the honeymoon period and gives you something else to look forward to. We had also heard it helped out with wedding blues…….

Wedding Blues: Definition…..Β The Knot.com tells it Best

With planning the wedding, when himself asked me where we wanted to go on Honeymoon, I replied one thing at a time love. I’m one of those people who needs to go through the list 1 by 1. Skipping ahead to number 60 before 20 have been completed is not how my brain works!

Himself asked if he could craic on with it. At the time I was happy out, ye go for it!! One task of my hands for now……

I’m not sure if it ever meant to be a surprise but the more it went on the more he got kicks out of it and the more he wanted the surprise to be. By October 2016 I had been told you’ll find out after the wedding…….

My Honeymoon had become destination unknown. Was I freaking out? Not one bit… πŸ™‚

The wedding came and I was told I’d find out closer to the honeymoon. Closer and closer kept coming and I still had no clue!

Mr and Mrs HK

Normally I think this would have bothered me and had me on tenterhooks but I could see how excited he was. Clearly it would be somewhere good…. He did have to come with me after all……

It also took the stress out of a big holiday for me. I’m a planner by nature. If I knew where we had have been going, I would have had EVERYTHING planned to the last-minute. This takes a lot of time, time I had to focus on buying holiday clothes, getting work finished, getting the house sorted….. Things that would have stressed me out on top of all that planning.Β My packing posts can be found here….Β andΒ here…..

By not knowing it also helped in my dreams to pack light πŸ™‚ This is not a joke! I wanted to TRY this time. Nothing was going in the bag that I didn’t need or was a maybe or a what if item. I still ended up with a big suitcase, carry on for 2 weeks was too much to hope for with my first time going away with out the sink πŸ™‚

Mr and Mrs Hong Kong

It also made the lead up, for both of us so much more exciting! No one in work knew were I was going, everyone was buzzing. The office had sweep-sakes on the destination! This was hysterical! My chefs where also getting on board, a good few of them texting on the day being like so???!?!?!?!?! Where the hell is it!!

It is a huge job on top of the wedding, handing it over to him to care for and deal with aided my stress levels. Him having full reign over it made him feel a little wary but mostly determined. He loved it and felt he was helping out in more ways than one. He also loved the organisation of it all and said he’d do it all over again! With where he’s picked I’m well down!!!

Hoping to get more posts up over the next few weeks, wi-fi permitted. I’m due back home at the end of the month! Very behind with all things blog but will get round to all on my return πŸ™‚

Lots of Love

Mrs S
