“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil. 4:13

Last week on the Snoop Snoop series we had the lovely Brooke. This week I’d like to introduce you to Brittney from Southern Lights, Atlanta Nights!

Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?

For those of you who don’t know me, Hi! My name is Brittney! I’m a newly 30 year old that loves the south and writes about all things lifestyle and beauty. I have a passion for writing, dancing, sports, animals and the good Lord above. Southern Lights, Atlanta Nights is my little piece of the internet where I talk about beauty, fitness, fashion and all things lifestyle. If you’re in the mood for a little light reading, come on by, I’d love to meet you!

Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I actually got into blogging because I didn’t think I could swing it as YouTuber; I’m pretty introverted so the thought of being on camera makes me incredibly nervous. While I knew and understood that the YouTube market probably wasn’t the best fit for me (at least for now), I couldn’t suppress my desire of wanting to talk about all things lifestyle and beauty. After careful thought and consideration I decided to turn what I would have done on camera into a blog…and well, here we are!

How do you manage time for your blog and how efficient do you think it is?

Managing a full-time job and a blog is a lot of work, I would be lying if I said it wasn’t. However, I remind myself that I have managed more at one time than what I’m doing now and I just make it happen. I set aside a couple of hours every day/other day to read and comment on other people’s blogs and I keep a notebook with me at all times so that I can jot down ideas whenever they come to me. I try to stick to posting 3 times a week and just crank the blogs out when I can. I’m not too hard on myself if things don’t always follow that blueprint, life happens and I can only do what I can do! Overall I think my strategy is efficient; there’s always room for improvement, but all in all I’m happy with my time management and the way things have been going thus far!

What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?

I think creating meaningful relationships with other bloggers has exponentially helped my growth! I also try to reply back to all of my comments; obviously I’m not perfect and I’ve probably missed a few here or there, but I definitely try. I also utilize a variety of social media platforms to promote all of my new content; and while I think that’s been incredibly helpful, I still think interacting with other bloggers and commenting on their content is what has helped me the most!

What are your blog plans for the next year?

My blog plans for next year are the same as they were for this year. I just hope to continue creating content that people enjoy reading and I hope that my blogging family continues to grow. As long as I’m having fun, I’ll keep doing it!

Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?

I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of incredible people on this blogging journey with me, but if we’re talking about the most influential and impactful people, I would have to say my family (cousin, boyfriend, mom, aunt and boyfriend’s family). They have been beyond supportive and encouraged me every step of the way! They help me brainstorm, give me ideas, inspire me, encourage my dreams and NEVER make me feel crazy for wanting to do this for a living! They are simply the best!

Who are your top 3 favourite bloggers and explain why?

Favorite bloggers…that’s an impossible question to answer. Now that I’m in the blogging community I have too many favorites to list. Instead I’ll share 3 bloggers that inspired me to take the leap and start doing this for myself!

  • Emily Gemma – The Sweetest Thing: I am obsessed with Emily. Her blog is stunning and her personality is even better! Her style is divine, her son is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and her love for the Lord shines brighter than the lights at Christmas time. I seriously can’t get enough of her!
  • Morgan Bullard – Morgan Bullard: Morgan has the sweetest of souls! She is a fellow Georgia girl and loves all things lifestyle and beauty! She’s a Falcons fan and a Georgia Tech graduate…aka…she’s the best! Her style is to die for, her smile is infectious AND she married her high school sweetheart (swoon)! Come on, she is serious goals!
  • Ashlee Nichols – Little Lovelies Blog: Ashlee is one of the coolest moms around! She runs a lifestyle blog that features some serious outfit goals and has two of the most precious little girls around! She talks about everything from life and style to potty training and bedtime routines. She is a Texas girl who loves the Lord and I thoroughly enjoy reading her blog!

If you could only have ONE plugin on your blog which one would you pick?

If I could only pick ONE plugin for my blog, it would probably be Google Analytics.

What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?

One of the most frustrating aspects of blogging is just the hurry up and wait game. Unfortunately things don’t always grow and progress as quickly as we would like them to so waiting for the payoff (not monetarily speaking) can be frustrating. The other frustrating part is the negativity and judgment that can come when you tell people that you run a lifestyle blog. However I learned a long time ago that not everyone will support and understand your dreams and you have to keep pushing forward despite what anyone else thinks (thanks for the advice mom)!

Did you have any professional help or did you created the blog yourself?

I pretty much created the blog myself. Once I decided to go self-hosted I purchased a theme from Etsy but chose to upload it and tweak it myself. I could have paid someone to help me with it but my boyfriend was a dream and helped me iron out all the details. There are still a couple of things we want to add/change, but for now I love the way it’s turned out!

Which is your favourite social media platform to use alongside your blog?

My favorite social media platform to use in conjunction with my blog is probably Instagram or Twitter, though I use them all. 🙂

Who takes the majority of your photos?

I take the majority of my photos. However for my title pictures and favorites posts I typically use a layout from Canva (it’s my favorite). I hope to get a nice camera for Christmas and really up my photo game! Fingers crossed!
