‘If you can’t be good, be careful’
Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
Firstly, hey guys! My name is Brooke Clarke, and I am a 20-year-old beauty and lifestyle blogger! I live in the Cotswolds in England (I promise you, it’s not as fancy/posh as it sounds) with my Mum – Lorraine, brother – Kieran, and two little doggies – Sasha and Leia! On my blog, you can expect to find all times of things. From rants, to hauls, to health related topics!
Describe how did you first get into blogging?
I got signed off of work and wanted something to keep myself busy. I got signed off due to undergoing tests for Endometriosis, so I also wanted a place where I could update my friends and family.
How do you manage time for your blog and how efficient do you think it is?
In all honesty, I spend 6+ hours on my blog a day. I’m still not at full-time work yet, and hardly can call my hours part-time since I have to call in sick a lot, meaning I can do only 4 hours a week some days! I’m not too sure what’s going to happen when I’m back full-time, but we will have to see when I get there!
What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?
I do think that posting everyday has been a massive help for me. I think if I only posted once a week, I would be nowhere near my current traffic amount! I also think that sharing on social media has helped me.
What are your blog plans for the next year?
I’ve just got a girl who has been in contact with myself, and is going to write guest posts for me every month, so possibly would like to gather some more guest posters on my blog (especially for when I go back full-time at work), and hopefully start to work with some more brands! I’m already in contact with a few, and those posts shall be up in the next month or so, but fingers crossed some more come my way!
Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
It’s cheesy as hell, but honestly? All my followers and readers. I love waking up every morning and replying to everyone’s comments and talking with them all, and It really keeps me motivated to keep on writing!
Who are your top 3 favourite bloggers and explain why?
In no particular order… 1) Abby Uppington. Not only is she a bloody awesome blogger, but she’s such an amazing person. She’s the closest ‘blogging’ friend I’ve made, and I love her to pieces! 2) Jessica Riga! Even though we haven’t spoken that much, I have a massive blogging girl crush on her! Her posts are amazing, and her photography makes me super jealous! And finally, Hazel. Now, I know you’re all thinking I’ve included her because this is her blog, but it’s really not. Hazel has been super supportive and been a true angel, Whenever I post about my health related topics, she’s always there, supporting me and making me feel less useless. She’s a true star!
If you could only have ONE plugin on your blog, which would you pick?
I’m not brave enough (clever enough) to go self-hosted yet! I’ve actually tried it 3 times, but it’s always confused me so much that I’ve ended up cancelling it! Maybe one day in the future, but right now, I’m staying put!
What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?
People who brag about their following count, when they do F4F. I can’t stand it! I’d rather look at my following count and say ‘these people followed me because they like my content!’ Rather than looking at my following count and be like ‘these people followed me because I followed them back!’. Not cool!
Did you have any professional help or did you create the blog yourself?
I wish I had professional help!
Which is your favourite social media platform to use alongside your blog?
Instagram (@liverc0ke)! I can’t get enough of it recently!
Who takes the majority of your photos?
I take all of my photos myself! One of my friends is a photographer, and I’m going to be working with her in the future, but all of the ones on my blog (unless stated they’re from google), are my own!
I hope you enjoyed this Q&A with Brooke as much as I did!! A huge thank you to Brooke for joining in and being a fabulous sport!
Have you guys seen Brooke’s blog??!
