“Hull has its own sudden elegancies. People are slow to leave it, quick to return. And there are others who come, as they think, for a year or two, and stay a lifetime, sensing that they have found a city that is in the world yet sufficiently on the edge of it to have a different resonance.” Philip Larkin
Welcome to the Blogging Interviews on Mrs. S London. Reaching out to Bloggers to get their views on all things blogging. From Why they blog, their favourite plugin’s, who takes their photos and what bugs them most about our community.
This week I would like to introduce you to Amelia from Hull. A Blogger who is keeping us updated on the Events of Hull, the City of Culture 2017.
Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I’m Amelia Grace, a teenager from Hull and I blog all about my beautiful home city Hull!!
Describe how did you first get into blogging?
I’ve always loved writing ever since a very young age and since Hull has become the city of culture 2017, that pushed me to create a blog where I could review Hull city of culture events and promote how awesome Hull is!!
How do you manage time for your blog and how efficient do you think it is?
Since I’m at school 5 days a week, I post every week on a Sunday or Monday night depending on how organised I am. I would say I manage time for my blog pretty well and every week so far I’ve been able to release a blog post as well as check out the posts my blogging friends have put out!!
What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you to get more traffic to your blog?
I generally check out other people’s blogs and like and comment on some of their posts and that has helped with traffic on my blog since 9 times out of 10 they come and check out my blog as well. I also try to find bloggers who have common interests to me since they usually are more likely to want to read my posts. However, sometimes I’ve tried to gain more traffic on my blog and ended up not getting much whereas sometimes I’ve not tried any methods to gain more traffic and my stats have been booming so it really can depend.
What are your blog plans for the next year?
My blog plans for next year would be to keep on blogging about Hull but expand to a travel and lifestyle blog because that way I would have a wide range of content for people to read.
Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?
I would definitely say my blogger friends such as Hazel because they all have such amazing blogs and they inspire me to do my best in blogging about things I’m passionate about.
Who are your top 3 favourite bloggers and explain why?
Oohhh so hard to pick just 3!! Obviously I love Mrs S LDN you have some great content and I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog posts!! I honestly can’t choose just 3, I follow a wide range of different blogs and each one is unique and has some amazing content. If I just listed every single person I follow, I think we’d all be here a long time!!
What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?
The most frustrating aspect of blogging for me is if I hit a stage of writers block and find it hard to write a blog post so it doesn’t turn out as well as I hoped it would. Some posts have been a lot easier than others to write if I’m more passionate about the subject I’m writing about.
Did you have any professional help or did you created the blog yourself?
I had a bit of help from my dad with setting up my blog and my mum proof reads my posts for me but apart from that I do everything myself on my blog.
Which is your favourite social media platform to use alongside your blog?
I only have a Twitter account that links in with my blog!! You can follow me @ameliainhull.
Who takes the majority of your photos?
I take a majority of my pictures but my mum, dad and my best friend all have pictures that they took featured on my blog at some point.
