Your wedding dress is one of the most important elements of your wedding day. Once your dress is sorted it’s all relatively plain sailing from there.
Here are my top tips for Wedding Dress Shopping
Book Your Appointments
Book visits in advance to avoid disappointment. Nearly every wedding dress shop do not take walk ins. Also be prepared to spend quite a bit of time at each one, at least 2 hours. Also be aware that some places charge a fee for appointments. Not all but some.
Keep an Open Mind
If you have a specific look in mind, Great! Do not be disheartened if it doesn’t suit though. Every dress looks one way on the hanger and a completely different way on you.
Be Up Front About Your Budget
There is nothing worse than putting on THE dress only to find out after that it is light years outside of your budget. Avoid the pain and heart-break.
Wear Your Best Support
By Support I mean a decent pair of knickers, preferably skin colour and high waited. Seamless would also be preferable. A decent bra works wonders for anyone! Also in a neutral colour and with the ability to have the straps removed. A lot of wedding dresses have built-in chest support. Whichever you decide to go with in your dress bear in mind what will be needed on the big day.
Try Try and Try Again
You will only get one opportunity to go wedding dress shopping. Every single bride I have ever spoken with re: this experience is that they wish they tried on a lot more dresses. If you find the one its hard to keep going. Enjoy the experience and make sure you suck the life out of it!
Know Your Mind
When you know… you know! Know your own style. Don’t let others in the room spoil your vision. If it’s THE dress, it’s THE dress.
Everyone needs them. They are quite a big deal to make sure your perfect dress was made to fit like a glove. Try and get them included in your final price and make sure they are not forgotten about.
Some dresses take 6 months to order in, some take 6 weeks. Make sure you have enough time to get the dress ready for the big day. Ask at your appointments the lead times and get a good idea from your favoured style as to how long it will take to be ready. Also make sure to factor in a couple of weeks extra to arrange the alterations!
I hope this helps in your search for the perfect dress!
