1 Year Of Blogging – What I Have Learned
Mrs S. London has now been going for 1 full year. Wow, writing that seems very surreal! I honestly never thought I’d go this long at it. I saw it as a hobby and something to fill my time with no wedding prep left to fill my weekends. If I’m honest, I thought I’d jack it in after 6 months. Being here a year later and still going strong, getting better and better is a pretty big deal for me!
With it being a full 12 months I wanted to share with you guys what I have learned!
It’s Nice to be Important But Important to Be Nice
I really do believe if you put out bad vibes you get them back 10 fold. Everyone is on their own journey, doing whatever it is they do, to the best of their ability. It may or may not be your cup of tea. Don’t rain on someone else’s parade, just because it’s not your thing. Move on over to the next parade until you find one that is you!
Comparing Your Start to Someone Else’s End Will Get You Nowhere
Every other blogger has a gazillion more followers than you, a ton more engagement, a helluva lot more comments… I could go on and on and on…… For all you know they have been at it YEARS before you have. They may be on their 9th blog. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others, but if you must, do so in a constructive way. One that doesn’t make you curl up in the foetal position and cry.
Don’t be Afraid to say Hi
Over the last year I’ve had a few moments where I have been like should I just get in touch outside of a comment box… Hmmm. Will I, won’t I… Some of my best blogger relationships have started out this way. Imagine if I never did reach out…. All those friendships not being thee… I don’t even want to! Get social, you won’t regret it! PLUS on a side note, if you can’t contact fellow bloggers how you gonna contact companies…. Just saying…
If You Feel It, Chances are Someone Else Does Too
Every time I’ve been down blogging wise, others have been there too. Every time I’ve been on a high, others have been there too! You are never alone! This has been a big lesson I have learned over the last 12 months. Reach out and be honest. You will be so surprised! It has been in these moments I have truly loved the blogging world and seen it in all its glory!
Take A Compliment
If someone says they love your site, take it and be proud! Do not go into all the things you find wrong with it! Your blog could be what someone else aspires to be like, just like you probably have those blogs you also aspire to be like! Don’t burst a bubble when you can watch it soar!
Imitation is the best form of flattery
Ok, let’s be honest here, we are not reinventing the wheel. Chances are every idea ever had in the blogging world has been done in some way, by another blogger… We all see things we like and take our own spin on. If someone flat out copies you, take it as a compliment. Chances are they saw it and just loved it as much as you did. If you are one of those people who copy like for like, give a shout out! A small “Hey, thanks for the amazing idea” can go a hell of a lot further than you think!!
So, there ya have it! What I have learned in the past 12 months of blogging. Here’s hoping the next 12 are as much fun!!
In honour of this little milestone, I wanna do a quick shout out to my fellow bloggers who have made this journey with me. These guys have been such an inspiration/ help/friend/girl boss/superstar to me it wouldn’t feel right not mentioning them!! Please do check them out if you haven’t already!!
You ladies have been fab with support, help, enthusiasm and all things blog from the beginning of this journey and it means so much!
